Bio
“There is hope, even when your brain tells you there isn’t.”
As a seasoned clinical Social Worker with over 20 years’ experience, Nicole employs an honest, pragmatic, and solutions-focused approach to enrich the lives of her clients and empower them to achieve long-term success and wellbeing. She has worked with children, youth, adults, and families across numerous cultural groups to overcome hardships in the areas of mental health, developmental disabilities, fertility and postpartum, parenting challenges, relationship and marital difficulties, separation, divorce, and co-parenting, substance dependence, and incidents of neglect and physical or emotional abuse.
Through extensive experience and training, Nicole has become an expert in healthy and effective communication and intimacy for couples, conflict-resolution in separation or divorce, and successful co-parenting and reintegration outcomes. As a child of divorce herself, Nicole is passionate about educating and supporting individuals and families impacted by separation and divorce so that they can address the situation in the most positive way possible and then rise above it to achieve the utmost success in the next chapter of their lives.
Nicole also specializes in infant care and sleep challenges, effective parenting techniques, child and youth individual therapy, and navigating the child welfare and family court systems. Nicole is a parent of two young children and understands the stressors and difficulties associated with raising children. She promotes a mindful, respectful, and holistic approach to parenting that leverages both gentle and authoritative techniques to achieve successful outcomes. This includes guiding parents to establish routine, structure, and firm boundaries, and learn how to employ appropriate responses based on a child’s age, disposition, and developmental stage. Nicole also works directly with children and youth to help them unpack any harboured, challenging feelings and self-esteem needs.
Working with Nicole means having a reliable, trustworthy, and direct therapeutic advocate who will work tirelessly to ensure you recognize your strengths and the strengths of those around you, so that each individual can heal and find their own path to health, safety, and a sense of well-being and optimism about the future. Nicole leverages her expertise to quickly identify and then implement effectual services and treatment modalities including assessments, parent-child contact problem family therapy, reintegration therapy or therapeutic access, parenting coordination, and more. Her knowledge, empathy, and humour enable her to guide families as they learn to understand and resolve their unique challenges and support them holistically as they move beyond them.
Nicole is registered in good standing with the College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers of Ontario and the Ontario Association of Social Workers. She holds a Master of Social Work (with Honors) from York University.
