Bio

Alison Robinette has been providing counselling services to adults, youth, and children for over 20 years in Toronto. Alison’s focus has been around repairing relationships within the family unit as well as supporting individuals struggling with life challenges. Her practice has centered around children and youth mental health (including anxiety, depression, ADHD, emotional regulation, mindfulness) as well as parent support and coaching. Alison uses a caring, helpful, and non-judgmental approach with clients. Her priority is to help clients feel safe, supported and understood. When working with children and youth, Alison uses creative interventions and play as this can be an effective window into their thoughts, feelings, and experiences, and at times more effective than talk therapy.

Alison also has extensive experience and training in intimate partner violence and uses a trauma informed approach when working with clients. She has also done long-term work with families experiencing separation and divorce and is committed to ensuring that children have a voice especially when complex, often stressful situations arise.

Alison has had extensive training in Attachment Theory, Trauma, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotional Focused Therapy (EFT), Emotional Regulation, Mindfulness, and Child Development. Alison graduated with her Masters of Social Work from the University of Toronto and is Registered with the Ontario College of Social Worker and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) as well as the Ontario Association of Social Workers (OASW).
