Bio

Eliana Gil is a Registered Social Worker who provides psychotherapy to individuals, teens, couples, and parents. She has over 25 years of clinical experience working with clients. She provides a warm, compassionate, and collaborative space where clients can better understand themselves, strengthen their relationships, and develop more effective ways of coping with life’s challenges.

Eliana works with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, chronic illness, relationship difficulties, self-esteem and body image concerns, and eating disorders. She also has extensive experience providing parenting support and guidance, helping parents navigate the challenges that can arise at different stages of their children’s development and support their child’s needs. She works collaboratively with parents to better understand their child’s emotional and behavioural needs, strengthen their parenting skills, improve communication, and respond to difficult situations with greater confidence and effectiveness. She has particular experience supporting parents of children and adolescents with ADHD, emotional difficulties, and behavioural concerns, helping them develop practical strategies while strengthening the parent-child relationship.

In her work with couples, Eliana uses Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), an attachment-based approach that helps partners build a deeper sense of emotional connection, trust, and security in their relationship. EFT helps couples become more open and responsive to one another, communicate their feelings and needs more effectively, and feel heard, understood, and supported by their partner. Through this process, couples can strengthen their bond, navigate conflict with greater understanding and compassion, and develop a more secure and lasting connection.

Throughout her career, Eliana has worked with individuals who have experienced trauma and different forms of abuse, including domestic violence and emotional, physical, and financial abuse. She provides a sensitive, trauma-informed environment where clients can process their experiences, understand how these experiences may continue to affect their emotions and relationships, rebuild a sense of safety and self-trust, and move toward healthier relationships.

Eliana’s therapeutic approach is integrative and tailored to each client. Drawing on Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT/EFIT), psychodynamic therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and trauma-informed approaches, she helps clients understand how past experiences and relationship patterns may be affecting their current challenges and relationships.

Eliana brings sensitivity to cultural differences, immigration experiences, identity, and the ways family and cultural backgrounds can influence relationships and emotional wellbeing.

Eliana holds a Master of Social Work from the University of Haifa and is a Registered Social Worker in Ontario. She has completed advanced professional training in psycho-dynamic psychotherapy, including Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples and individuals, CBT, trauma-focused approaches, and psychodynamic psychotherapy with children and adolescents.
Above all, Eliana believes therapy should be a place where clients feel understood rather than judged. She works collaboratively with clients to help them recognize patterns that may no longer serve them, access their strengths, and create meaningful and lasting change in their lives and relationships.
