Bio
Mary Elizabeth (M.E.) Picher is a Registered Psychotherapist and Developmental Psychologist with over 20 years of experience specializing in infant, child, youth, adult and family mental health. Grounded in a unique blend of eastern and western traditions, M.E. holds an MA in Buddhist Psychology alongside an MEd and PhD in Developmental Psychology from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) at the University of Toronto.
M.E. offers a deeply holistic, multi-disciplinary approach that supports the mind, body, and spirit. As a trained family and play therapist, she seamlessly combines parent coaching, family therapy, and play therapy to help families navigate early childhood milestones, attachment dynamics, and behavioural challenges. Her extensive clinical expertise also spans supporting school-aged children, teens, and young adults facing anxiety, depression, self-harm, low self-esteem, emotional regulation issues, OCD, PTSD, and ADHD.
Beyond her academic credentials, M.E. brings lived experience to her practice. As a mother of two neurodiverse children, she understands firsthand the complexities of raising children with learning exceptionalities. She is a passionate advocate for families, well-versed in navigating the school system to ensure children’s needs are met both inside and outside the classroom. M.E. is also deeply committed to supporting families through high-conflict separation and divorce, utilizing a trauma-informed lens to help parents co-parent effectively and break generational cycles of trauma.
