Bio

Emily is a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Work and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW). She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology, an Ontario Graduate Certificate in Addictions and Mental Health, and a master’s degree in social work. Emily has extensive experience supporting individuals, children, teens, couples, and families. She has specialized training and expertise in substance use recovery supporting both individuals and their loved ones, as well as trauma therapy and maternal mental health.

Emily has gained broad clinical experience working in a range of healthcare facilities and community settings, including OBGYN clinics and substance abuse recovery programs, providing psychotherapy. Through these experiences, Emily has comprehensive clinical experience supporting men, women, families, adolescents and children as they navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use, relationship difficulties or breakdown, stress, infertility, loss, self-harm, suicidality, bullying, emotional regulation, low self-esteem/confidence, and interpersonal skill building.

In addition, Emily supports children and families going through a separation. She provides guidance to parents as they navigate coparenting, offering support in both high conflict situations and more collaborative separations. Emily also works with new parents, helping them build confidence and strengthen their parenting skills during the transition to parenthood.

Emily is a trauma-informed therapist, meaning she understand that trauma can manifest in the mind and body in complex ways that seem daunting to tackle. Emily will provide a safe and supportive environment where curiosities can emerge to process trauma and re-build trust with yourself, the people, and the world around you. Additional therapeutic modalities including cognitive-behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, emotion-focused therapy and attachment therapy will be used to identify unhelpful thinking patterns, foster confidence to create and enforce personal boundaries, and heal past wounds to develop meaningful relationships.

Emily’s approach to therapy is rooted in deep understanding, empathy, trust, compassion and collaboration. Working with Emily means that you will be seen, heard, and respected as the person you are, and your strengths will be recognized to find the best path towards healing and growth.
